Not a great photo, but there's a story here: Lu is holding the fateful bottle of Kerosene... See, she'd bought a multi-fuel stove in Santiago (most airlines don't like you flying with a camp stove, so we decided it was better to buy one in the country), and we couldn't find any white gas in Ancud. Not much call for it, I guess, as we found out, the hiking culture has not taken ahold of Chiloe. Anyhoo, this kerosene was so polluted that by the time we got it to flashpoint to light the stove, we very nearly set the hillside alight! Some quick action with a bucket of water saved the day (and our cabin) but the stove never did work right, even when we got proper white gas & ditched the filthy kerosene. Every time we lit it, there would be a small inferno, and it would leave a scum of oily carbon on the bottom of our cooking pots. Next time, I'll buy the cheapie cannisters the locals use!
